The Posture Dojo Podcast with Sam Miller

From healing oneself to helping others on their healing journeys

Last year I was privileged to speak with Sam Miller, founder of The Posture Dogo, his school for healing scoliosis. Twenty-five years ago a near-drowning accident left Sam with a smashed T10 vertebra that gradually developed into  85° kypho-scoliosis.  Determined to heal himself without surgery, Sam embarked on a search that included breathing exercises for scoliosis, individually tailored flexibility, coordination and strength-building routines, and what I suspect is his innate curiosity and positive mental attitude.  Eventually Sam gained two inches in height.  He has now built a healing community for sharing his approach with other young men and women whose spines have been compromised.   His work is awesome.

The podcast posted here was recorded in December, 2023.  At the end of it, I offered to give Sam an online movement coaching session.  I was curious to see whether my interests in spatial orientation and the interoceptive sense of support from the ground might contribute to the fine work he already does.  I was hoping for more flow—Sam’s nickname is the Flowwolf.

But I didn’t hear from Sam again,… until last week!  I’m delighted that we’ll meet later this Fall for that long-promised movement session. We’ll share it as a podcast. Stay tuned!
